Tributes flood in as Former Barcelona and Spain Manager Luis Enrique announced the death of his nine-year-old daughter Xana Martinez on Thursday evening.
Xana Martinez succumbed to osteosarcoma after battling with cancer for “five intense months.”
Barcelona has offered their condolences to Enrique and his family, as have rival LaLiga clubs and numerous players in the game.
Enrique made 300 appearances for the Catalan giants and managed them between 2014 and 2017, winning two LaLiga titles and the Champions League during his time in the Camp Nou hot seat.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: “All of our support and compassion goes to Luis Enrique, his wife and all of his family at this, particularly painful time. All the Barça family are touched by the loss of Xana. Our condolences and all our sympathy for the Martínez Cullell family.”

Chelsea’s Pedro, who played under Enrique at Barcelona, wrote on his social media channels: “Devastated by the terrible news of Xana. My deepest condolences to Luis Enrique and all his family. Much encouragement and much strength mister!“
Barcelona’s bitter rivals Real Madrid said they “join the pain” of Enrique and his family and “want to convey their deepest condolences to them at these difficult times”.
Real Madrid’s captain, Sergio Ramos, sent Enrique the following message on Twitter: “Mr, all our support and love for you and your family. There are no words, but you always have us by your side.”
